Ep.479: Is Thanks Worth Giving?
The American holiday “Thanksgiving”
Theme Scripture: Hebrew 13:15
Somewhere in between the incredibly popular costumes, parties and candy of Halloween and the over-commercialized fantasies, shopping and presents of Christmas, there lies another American holiday. This holiday is largely overlooked and may have been forgotten altogether had it not been for the day off we had this past Thursday. Yes, I am talking about Thanksgiving – a day set aside by our forefathers, not for the purpose of eating turkey or watching football, but for the simple and profound purpose of giving thanks to God our Creator for His manifold blessings to us. So, just in case your Thanksgiving was not as centered on giving thanks as it could have been, we are providing this program as a public service, to put the thanksgiving back into Thanksgiving! Stay with us!
Ep.478: Why be a Christian?
The cost and rewards of Christianity
Theme Scripture: Luke 9:62
Last week we talked about God’s promise of a kingdom on earth, where all who have ever lived will have the opportunity to ultimately live in peace and harmony under the mighty rule of the Almighty God. We saw numerous scriptures that revealed this broad plan of salvation. This raised a question; if everyone will ultimately get the goodies, why bother to be a Christian now? Why put in all of the work, sacrifice and dedication when all men benefit anyway? On this program we look into what true Christianity is, what it costs and what its rewards are. Why be a Christian? Lots of reasons! Let’s look!
Ep.477: Did God Promise a Kingdom on Earth?
Prophetic support for an earthly kingdom
Theme Scripture: Daniel 7:14
All Christians know the Lord’s prayer. It is taught when we are little children. Did you ever think about this phrase “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven?ʺ Why would Jesus teach us to pray for God’s kingdom to come on earth if it was not to be? Are there any other references to this earthly kingdom in the Bible? Stay with us as we look into this matter of God and His promised kingdom: Where it will be? Who will be in it? When it will be? Why it will be? How it will all take place?
Ep.476: What Voices Do YOU Listen To?
Focusing on what we allow to influence us
Theme Scripture: Isaiah 30:21
We all hear voices - every one of us. Sometimes the voice is our own voice of conscience. Other times it is the voice of experience, or the voice of reason or the voice of compassion. Still other times, we may hear the voice of rationalization, or the voice of peer pressure or the voice of apathy. We may also hear the voice of temptation, or the voice of foolishness or the voice of self-gratification. While these voices may not be audible, they are clearly understandable and we are daily faced with the challenge of deciding what voices to follow and which to avoid. What about the voice of godliness? Can we learn to tune in to that voice? Stay with us as we sift through the voices in our lives and figure out how to tune in to those voices that would be most beneficial.
