Ep.566: What’s in a Promise?
The importance of keeping our word
Theme Scripture: Hebrews 11:13
Everybody makes promises. Everybody has experiences where they make a commitment of some kind to another, to do something on their behalf. A number of things can happen as a result of this: We can fulfill our promise entirely or partially. We can decide not to fulfill it. We can not fulfill it because of external circumstances. So, how important is a promise? Should “our word be our bond?” What about God’s promises? Does He ALWAYS keep them? How would we know? Stay with us as we look into the delicate realm of promises and their importance in our lives.
Ep.565: Have You Ever Felt Trapped?
King Hezekiah and his life challenges
Theme Scripture: Psalms 124:6
We have all had experiences in our lives that have led us to places from which there seemed to be no escape. These are places where the circumstances were such that the outcome seemed so inevitable that our choices in the matter were limited to accepting some unwanted and predetermined future or denying it, only to be confronted with it later. In such times, hope fades from our future and into memory. Sounds glum, doesn’t it? Well, the good news is, we can look to Biblical accounts of some of God’s chosen ones and see how they fared in such difficult times. King Hezekiah was one such man. Confronted with circumstances throughout his life that could have trapped and demoralized him, he found ways to rise above them to follow a higher path. Stay with us as we look into the life and times of King Hezekiah and see how he found ways of escape from the traps of his life.
Ep.564: Should it be Israel or Palestine?
Land rights in the Middle East
Theme Scripture: Genesis 13:14-15
Our world is full of controversy. There are controversies over politics, equal rights, taxation, economic principles, global warming and the right to life, to name a few. Amongst the most noted and longest lasting controversies of our day is the controversy over Israelies, the Palestinians, and the land that they both live on. Think about it – in an oil rich region where there are over 220 million Arabs residing, one of the greatest world-wide attention getters is the tiny sliver of land called Israel – a land of NO oil to speak of, 6 million Jews and about 1 million Arabs. Swirling around this tiny land that is about the size of New Jersey are questions about who has a right to claim the land as their own and who doesn’t. Stay with us as we look into this question from a biblical, historical and present day perspective. Should it be Israel or Palestine?
Ep.563: What is the Price of True Freedom?
Freedom, Independence and true freedom in Christ
Theme Scripture: John 8:36
The call for freedom has rung in the ears of every human being throughout history. We seem to have an undeniable attraction to freedom – an attraction to living our lives with a freedom to choose – an attraction to living our lives with freedom from tyranny – an attraction to living our lives with freedom to pursue our dreams and our goals. There are many levels of freedom ranging from a simple freedom to choose what your next meal will be or what clothes you will wear, to freedom of speech and expression, to freedom of ownership. Many have sacrificed their lives and died for these freedoms. Stay with us as we talk about and try to define the price for true freedom.
