This is a difficult concept very clearly explained!
The verses are so self-explanatory, they make it easier to understand. Great job!

Still I am puzzled with death. My question is:
Since WE have been RANSOM ED BY our Lord Jesus Christ, why must we still die?
As I understand, Adam and Eve must have lived forever , have they not eaten the forbidden fruit❗ NOW that we have been RANSOMed by Jesus by dying on the Cross, why must we still have to die?
Please give me an explanation to this doubt. Thank you.

Thank you for your question, Alicia! Although Jesus paid the ransom price 2,000 years ago, there is a fundamental difference between the payment for sin and its application to the individual. The ransom was a legal satisfaction of God’s justice—a perfect human life (Jesus) provided as a “corresponding price” for the perfect human life lost by Adam. While this payment legally canceled the sentence of permanent death for all of Adam’s posterity, the actual work of delivering and reconciling the world back to God unfolds in two distinct phases over time. We still die today for several reasons:

      1. God’s plan is not to stop death instantly, but to allow the “temporary permission of evil” to continue as a learning tool so that mankind can understand the devastating consequences of sin forever.

      2. There is a specific order of salvation. The benefits of the ransom are applied first to a “called-out” class (faithful Christians) during this present age, who undergo a trial of sacrifice and character development. Only after this first group is complete does the salvation for the rest of the world begin through a future earthly resurrection.

However, because of the ransom, death is no longer an eternal extinction or a prison house with no escape; it has been transformed into a temporary state of non-existence from which every human is guaranteed to be awakened. The ransom does not automatically grant eternal life without conditions; instead, it provides an opportunity for all to eventually be raised and placed on trial for life based on their own willful obedience in the future kingdom. Scripture defines death as the “last enemy” to be abolished; it will only be completely destroyed at the end of Christ’s millennial reign, after all authority and unrighteousness have been put under his feet.

Therefore, we still die because the “present evil world” must run its course before the established Day of Judgment – a time of trial and rehabilitation – can begin to restore humanity to the perfection and harmony originally lost in Eden.

For more details, we recommend listening to: Episode 1327: “If Jesus’ Resurrection Saved the World, Why Is It Such a Mess?” This episode directly addresses the core of the question – the apparent contradiction between a “saved” world and the ongoing presence of suffering and death. – Christian Questions
