Marriage was established and blessed by God in the Garden of Eden and the scriptures give man free choice regarding the decision to marry. The Apostle Paul, who was unmarried, encouraged Christians to consider doing the same. "I wish that all people were as I am." He reasoned that an unmarried person is able to devote 100 percent of his time and opportunities to serving the Lord. How do you know which one to choose?
Christianity is about transformation - at least, that’s what it is supposed to be about. The problem is when we look at Christianity, what we often see is something else, something different. In some ways it seems as though Christianity has fallen into the trap of a competitive evangelism – recruiting as many new believers as possible. Now wait a minute – aren’t we supposed to do that? Yes we are, but how are we supposed to do it? What do we believe the name of Jesus saves us from? What do we believe a Christian life should look like? What do we believe is God’s plan for the masses? Do any of these things really matter? Should we just be focusing on being good, honest and loving?
Christianity today is utterly splintered. With 2,000 or more denominations and lots of free thinking, some brands of Christianity are not even recognizable to others. Why would this be? Is there only one true brand of Christianity? If so, then why would God have permitted the unified body of Christian followers to be exposed to such contradictory and divisive corruptions of true Christianity?
We all have beliefs in all areas of our lives. The question arises, when my beliefs are different than yours, is really a big deal? Should we just ʺlive and let live” or is there some obligation to those around us that comes with our beliefs? Obviously, this is too large a topic for this two-hour program, so we will focus on religious beliefs – how firmly do we hold them? Does it matter if my beliefs contradict your beliefs? Why do Christians have so many different beliefs regarding the Bible? Can’t we all just get along? Stay with us as we open the door on this difficult and fascinating topic.
