VIDEO: Moments that Matter – Do I Seek God’s Protection or His Permission?

It is far too easy to fall into the trap of looking for God’s permission to do or act or respond when we really should be seeking His providential guidance. This is tricky – how do we tell the difference? How do we uncover what God would have us do in contrast to what He often allows us to do? Watch this short vlog then listen to the full podcast of the same name.

How Do I Defeat My Worst Enemy? Me!

In many ways we are daily in a fight for our lives. There are so many choices that present themselves to us each and every day, many of which can distract and derail us from what is most important. The biggest factor that determines whether we stay on track with life or go down some rabbit hole of distraction and disruption is simply...me. Yup, I am the decision maker - the gatekeeper of my own mind and body - and I alone have final say as to what kind of victory or what kind of defeat I will experience. Now, wait a minute! As a Christian shouldn’t I be subject to the will of God through Christ? Absolutely! Then why am I saying that I am in control? It’s simple! I decide how much influence the will of God will exercise in my life at any given moment and that makes ME my worst enemy! Great! Now what do we do? What do we do? How is Jesus “The Way”? (Part I)

On the night before his crucifixion and literally hours before he would begin a sleepless ordeal of beatings, humiliation and accusation, Jesus took his precious time to give comfort to his truest followers. He spoke of what would happen, of God’s care for them and of his love and devotion to them. He taught them to serve, be humble and to live with joy. Jesus also told them how to be faithful and let them know that he - Jesus - was the key to it all. Jesus said that he is the way – what did he mean by that?

Should Christians Marry Only Christians?

To be a Christian is perhaps the most amazing privilege in the history of mankind. After all, you are called to walk in the footsteps of the master, to sacrifice your will, your time and your energy for one short lifetime. In exchange, you will be given an eternity of godly power and wisdom and be used of God Himself to rehabilitate the world from sin and rule along with our Lord Jesus in righteousness! Such privilege certainly comes with guidelines and requirements - well, what are they? How specifically does God through Jesus guide our relationships?

Where Do We Find Wisdom?

All you have to do is look around – what do you see? There is knowledge, there is technology, there are people, places and things. We rush and we are impatient. We want what we want now. We text, but we don’t talk – we type but we don’t write. We have “friends,” but we don’t touch – we have families but we are not familiar. We build our dreams around ourselves, but we are lonely. Why is there such a massive and growing disconnect between our lives and our contentment? It is because we are not wise… We know we are smart, we are even savvy, but we are not wise and this is a problem!

If Jesus Knocked, Would You Answer?

This is one of those “what if” questions.  It’s a question that you ask for the purpose of getting someone to think and not because you expect the situation to actually take place.  What if Jesus came to your house – today – right now?  What would you do?  What wouldn’t you do?  How would you act?  How wouldn’t you act? What would you hide? What would you display?  Would you want your friends to stop in, or would you prefer they stay away?  Would you need to be on guard with your words, or would you not worry?  Would Jesus’ presence make you happy and excited or uneasy and defensive?  This podcast entertains the question – not because we expect him to show up at your door - but because it makes us examine who we are.  If Jesus knocked, would you answer?
