Ep.828: Is Loving God Enough?

The Old and New Testaments' results of loving God

Theme Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:5-6

Love God. It is a simple enough commandment - easy to say, repeat and remember. But what does it really mean? Are there different ways of expressing love for God and does God look for different results depending on what age of humanity we live in? Can you live a life of servant in the Christian age loving god and his little flock but looking forward to a paradise on earth with the rest of mankind or does this place you in the great multitude.

Of course, you may! Service, love, and obedience are always in order and now more than ever. God even gave us an admonition directly to this, “See righteousness; seek meekness….” Zech. 2:3 and Micah 6:8, “What does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” The result of this kind of life in this age will be a head start in the Kingdom when all will love righteousness and endeavor to serve our Lord.

As for the Great Multitude, these are also a heavenly class. In Rev. 7:9-11, they are described as being with the Little Flock, but serving before, rather than on the Throne. They could have gained more, but as verse 14 shows, did not live up to their covenant of sacrifice. Yet they cannot live on earth because they have foregone that privilege when they consecrated. And they are not so evil as to deserve second death. Our merciful Father has provided that they will have a reward suited to their endeavors.

So, dear friend, strive with your might what your hands find to do, trying to please the Lord in all you can. God is “a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Heb.11:6. –Christian Questions
