Five weeks ago we began a discussion on the highly controversial topic of hellfire and the Bible and whether or not these two belong together. We based that conversation on a 2012 documentary entitled “Hellbound?” written and produced by Kevin Miller. Kevin joined us for that discussion as we mainly focused on the Old Testament and non-biblical history. Well, Kevin is back with us for this follow-up as we reopen the book on hell and the very piercing question – are most people hellbound?
Christianity is a faith that claims to see the mind of God through His written Word. It claims to represent a God of love and compassion, yet a God of justice and consequence as well. All Christians are unified in the belief that the true followers of Christ will be rewarded with immortal life in heaven, yet Christianity is amazingly fractured in its belief about what happens to everyone else – which constitutes the vast majority of all humankind. Do unbelievers suffer in merciless agony for all of eternity in the fires of hell? Do unbelievers experience the fires of hell as a purifying fire that brings them to Christ? Do unbelievers simply experience utter destruction and cease to exist upon final proof of incorrigibility? Stay with us as we seek biblical truth on the matter!
The Avengers movie has been a box office sensation, breaking all kinds of records. Why? Good movie, good story, good special effects and (wait for it!) superheroes...lots of superheroes! We all love looking up to those who will stand for what’s right and save the world. We all especially love the fact that these heroes, while super, are flawed as well and they still fight for what is right! Does God’s plan for humanity include such heroes? Who would they be? What would they do? Would they – could they - save the world? Stay with us!
