A few weeks ago we began a discussion on the keys to understanding the Bible as the word of God and therefore to being able to understand the mind of God. Is it really possible to know what God is thinking and what He is planning for the entire race of mankind? Well, we believe it is not only possible but attainable as well! Come on! Let’s continue the discovery process of Bible study…
God is Almighty. He is all knowing and all seeing. We believe He is the very embodiment of wisdom, justice, love and power. As our Creator, we believe He has a plan - a detailed plan - that He will see accomplished for the good of all mankind. How do we think we know these things? The Bible. We believe that His Plan and its details are revealed in the Bible. Now, depending upon our brand of Christianity, we will come up with several contradictory interpretations of that plan unless we are willing to subject our understanding to a rigorous series of tests that will point us to Truth and not tradition. There are five rigorous tests, five ways of finding the mind of God in Scripture! Are you ready?
There is so much that comes to mind when you think of the life Jesus lived here on earth for 33½ years. The Old Testament had an amazing amount to say about his life – much of it written hundreds and thousands of years before he came. This brings up the question – could Jesus have done the things he did and said the things he said simply because he knew the prophecies and wanted to fulfill them, or was it all of his own free will? Stay with us – this is fascinating!
Daniel was a good, righteous and deeply faithful man. From a very young age, he showed himself to be wholly keyed in on being in lock-step with obedience to God. God, in turn, blessed Daniel in many ways, from preserving his life, to granting him ability to interpret dreams, to elevating him in power, to bestowing upon him an incredible gift of prophecy. Oh yeah, and God also delivered him from the den of lions! Today, Daniel’s prophecies are among the most discredited scriptures in the Bible! Why? What is it about Daniel that makes so many afraid?
We as Christians cling to the truth that God is Love. We cling to its stability, its longevity and its unchangeableness. God is Love. So, what does that mean and how far does that extend? Does God love all things? Does God love this world and all in it – the evil included? Does God hate and if He does, wouldn’t He be hating that which He created? What about the earth? Does God love this earth, I mean, is God “green?” If He does love the earth then will He destroy it? Stay with us as we look into the book that reveals the mind of God on such matters!
Jesus was a master story teller. He knew how to keep people’s attention while teaching important and difficult things by using very commonplace subjects like farming, fishing, servants and weddings. Most of the time the majority of his audience did not fully understand his lessons, and Jesus actually wanted it that way. On this program we will look at the parable of the sheep and the goats and see who Jesus is talking about and what time period he is talking about. Are sheep good and goats bad?
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's anti-Semitic and anti-Israel views surely position him and the country of Iran among the foremost threats to the state of Israel. With war drums beating in the Middle East, thoughtful students of Bible prophecy wonder how the Bible's predictions of end-time events will play out. Scripture does indeed speak loudly and in detail about the near future for Israel, its neighbors, and the whole world as we approach the revelation of Christ and the inauguration of the kingdom of God on earth. Through the smoke of war and conflict of war on the horizon will come an era of peace and security for ALL mankind such as the world has never known. How will the current enemies of Israel be converted into friends? We will explore this today!
Armageddon! The very word sends shivers down the spine of millions. Armageddon! Of all the Biblical prophecies, this one is probably more recognized than any other, even by those who are not believers in the Bible. Armageddon! It captures the imagination. It has been the framework for blockbuster movies and descriptions of war and destruction. So what is it? Where is it? When is it? And how does it really work? Is it really as dire as we think? Is it WORSE?
By the accounts of many, the day in which we live is different than any other time in the recorded history of the world. Never before has there been so much by way of knowledge, science and medicine that can heal and restore yet, never has there been so much by way of brilliantly formed destructive forces as well. We are blessed with technology and its work saving power yet we are cursed by its power to feed the basest of human desire. We are blessed with greater freedom for more of the masses than ever before, yet we are cursed with the abuses greed and inequity that such freedom unleashes. Are these the perilous times of the Bible? Stay with us as we look into Bible prophecy and current events to try and determine where we are on the timeline of God’s Plan.
